USCIS Message: Video From USCIS Director León Rodríguez on Temporary Protected Status for Yemen

Latest News

USCIS has released a short video message in English and Arabic from Director León Rodríguez explaining Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Yemen.

On September 3, 2015, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson designated Yemen for TPS, effective through March 3, 2017, due to the ongoing armed conflict there.

This designation means eligible Yemeni nationals, or people without nationality who last habitually resided in Yemen, can apply to temporarily remain in the United States during this period. They may also receive a work permit.

Only individuals who have continuously resided in the United States, and been continuously physically present, since September 3, 2015, are eligible to register for TPS for Yemen. March 1, 2016, is the last day to register for TPS for Yemen. USCIS strongly encourages those eligible to apply as soon as possible.

Read the full details in the Federal Register notice or visit uscis.gov/tps.
