DOJ Press Release Announces New FOIA Guidelines to Favor Disclosure and Transparency

On March 19, 2009, the U.S. Department of Justice issued comprehensive new Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) guidelines that direct all executive branch departments and agencies to apply a presumption of openness when administering the FOIA. According to the press release, the new FOIA guidelines reaffirm the government's committment to accountability and transparency and rescinds the guidelines issued by the previous administration.
