Originally from Nebraska, Michelle attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she studied Political Science, International Studies, and Spanish. Michelle graduated with High Distinction and Honors and is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa national honorary. During college, Michelle spent a semester both in Costa Rica and in Chile learning the language and culture. Michelle received a UCARE grant and completed her Honor’s Thesis focusing on the changing gender ideologies on the US/Mexico border due to the maquildora factories. She also spent a summer on Capitol Hill working for her Nebraska Congressman.
Growing up in the agricultural state of Nebraska, Michelle experienced firsthand the growing immigrant community which prompted her interest in pursuing immigration law. In 2006, Michelle graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law where she was selected to spend a year working in the law school’s Clinical Immigration Program, she also spent weekends volunteering with a local non-profit organization called Equity in Nebraska providing family-based immigration assistance. During law school, Michelle spent a summer working in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office in the Criminal Prosecution Division, and a summer working for a law firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the year, Michelle worked for the Lancaster County District Court as a judicial law clerk where she gained valuable experience “behind the scenes” of a courtroom. Michelle graduated law school with immigration experience with a concentrated program of study in International Law.
After law school, Michelle married and moved to Abilene, Texas, with her husband who is pilot in the U.S. Air Force. While in Abilene, Michelle worked for a year with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas practicing litigation primarily in the areas of Social Security, debtor and creditor, deceptive trade practices, and landlord/tenant relations. She joined Badmus Immigration Law firm in June of 2007 to pursue her passion in practicing immigration law, which she finds both personally and professionally rewarding.
Michelle is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Texas and Dallas Bar Associations.
