J-1 Waiver CONRAD State 30 Program
Alabama - As of June 30, 2010, 9 specialist slots and 14 primary care slots available. Deadline is September 30th as the 2011 fiscal year begins October 1st. Fiscal year 2011 applications will then be accepted beginning the first Monday of January on a first come, first serve basis.
Alaska - As of June 8, 2010, 25 slots are available without a deadline. They will begin accepting 2010-2011 waiver applications on Oct 1, 2010.
Arizona - As of February 15, 2010, Arizona Department of Health Services J-1 Visa Waiver program will begin accepting a second cycle of applications for the 2010 program on February 15, 2010 for primary care physicians and specialists. Submit applications post-marked no later than Monday, March 15, 2010.
Arkansas - As of February 5, 2010, 30 slots are available, no deadline.
California - As of March 2, 2010, all slots filled.
Colorado - As of June 30, 2010, Colorado has currently only filled half of their available slots. Applications accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Deadline is September 1st and will begin accepting 2010/2011 fiscal year applications on Oct. 1, 2010.
Connecticut - As of February 8, 2010, 22 slots are available; they will continue to accept applications until September 30, 2010.
Delaware - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
District of Columbia - As of January 20, there have not been any updates for this state.
Florida - As of April 15, 2010, all slots filled.
Georgia - As of April 27, 2010, Georgia has 17 slots available. As of April 1 of every year, the remaining available slots are filled by either specialty or primary care positions.
Hawaii - As of January 20, 2009, there have not been any updates for this state.
Idaho - As of June 30, 2010, Idaho has 30 slots available. No deadline, they work on a first come, first serve basis and the first day of 2010/2011 program year is October 1, 2010.
Illinois - As of January 15, 2009, all slots filled.
Indiana - As of February 8, 2010, Indiana has approximately 6 slots available and all six slots are potentially available for Flex. The deadline is August 1, 2010 or until the slots are filled.
Iowa - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
Kansas - As of February 8, 2010, there are 26 slots available, no deadline.
Kentucky - As of January 22, 2010, all slots filled.
Louisiana - As of April 29, 2010, Louisiana has the option of 6 more FLEX slots and has 8 slots open. Louisiana will be accepting applications until the last week of August. If any are received in September, these applications will be considered for 2011 fiscal year.
Maine - As of June 30, 2010, 7 slots are available, deadline is September 30, 2010. First day to begin accepting applications for the 2010/2011 fiscal year is October 1, 2010.
Maryland - As of June 30, 2010, 14 slots are available for either specialist or primary care physicians. The application process is September 30, 2009 through October 1, 2010 and applications are taken on a first come first serve basis.
Massachusetts - As of January 20, 2010, the deadline for this fiscal year (2009-2010) was January 15, 2010. Massachusetts received approximately 27 applications. Attorney’s should contact the Recruitment Program Coordinator if interested in submitting applications.
Michigan - As of February 8, 2010, all slots are filled.
Minnesota - As of February 8, 2010, there are plenty of available slots, exact number was not provided.
Mississippi - As of February 8, 2010, 29 slots are available.
Missouri - As of June 30, 2010, there is 1 slot available. Deadline is September 30, 2010, as first day to accept applications for 2010/2011 fiscal year is Oct. 1, 2010. Priority will be given to those physicians who are board-eligible or board-certified in one of the following: Family Practice, General Practice, General Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, or Psychiatry and providing services in a primary care clinical setting. Missouri will continue to accept applications until September 30, 2010 or until 30 waivers have been forwarded to the Department of State.
Montana - As of January 20, 2009, there have not been any updates for this state.
Nebraska - As of June 30, 2010, they have 20 slots available, 2 which are flex slots. The deadline is September 28, 2010. First day to begin accepting applications for the 2010-2011 fiscal year is October 1, 2010.
Nevada - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state, other than the first round of physicians to be approved for a waiver will occur in January 2010. Applications for 2010 should be in to Nevada by mid-July to be considered for the 2010 fiscal year.
New Hampshire - As of April 27, 2010, New Hampshire has 9 Non-HPSA slots available. 25 total slots availalbe. The state tends to fill 17-18 slots per year.
New Jersey - As of January 19, 2010, 19 slots are available, no deadline.
New Mexico - As of April 27, 2010, there are 8 slots are available. They will accept applications until all slots are filled, first come first serve basis.
New York - As of July 2, 2010, all slots have been filled. The deadline for filing in NY is December 1. First day NY will begin accepting applications for the 2010-2011 fiscal year is after the guidelines are posted, maybe September? There is No advantage in submitting before the deadline - they have a competitive review process.
North Carolina - As of February 11, 2010, the state has plently of slots available. North Carolina does not tend to reach the 30 available slots each year.
North Dakota - As of April 27, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state. The only information provided is that HPSA slots tend to always be available, the flex slots are the ones that get filled rather quickly.
Ohio - As of April 23, 2010, Applications for primary care placements within Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) will be accepted on a rolling basis up to June 30, 2010.
Applications for non-primary care specialties and any placements outside of HPSAs must be submitted by February 26, 2010 and April 23, 2010.
Oklahoma - As of April 13, 2010, there are 28 slots available, 8 of which are flex (specialty) slots.
Oregon - As of February 11, 2010, there are 27 slots available. These are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis.
Pennsylvania - As of May 18, 2010, Pennsylvania Department of Health has recommended 18 J-1 Waivers. Currently there are 6 applications in review. Therefore we anticipate at least 6 available slots at this time.
Rhode Island - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
South Carolina - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
South Dakota - As of June 30, 2010, there are 23 slots available. No deadline, they accept applications on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the application if for the next fiscal year, it will not be reviewed until that fiscal year begins.
Tennessee - As of July 6, 2010, there are 23 slots available. TN does not have a deadline and October 1, 2010 will be the first day they will begin to accept applications for the 2010-2011 fiscal year
Texas - As of February 2010, all slots filled.
Utah - As of January 18, 2010, there are 30 slots available, no deadline.
Vermont - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
Virginia - As of June 8, 2010, there are 17 Designated Slots Available and 6 FLEX Non-designated Slots Available. No real deadline, but they process applications according to the fiscal year for this program. If they receive an application very late in Sept., they will fill the slot for the next fiscal year beginning on Oct. 1st.
Washington - As of July 1, 2010, all slots have been filled. New fiscal year begins October 1, 2010.
West Virginia - As of January 20, 2010, there have not been any updates for this state.
Wisconsin - As of December 15, 2009, 29 slots are available, deadline is end of September 2010.
Wyoming - As of March 15, 2010, Wyoming has 27 slots remaining, 8 of which are flex slots.
